The Savvy Grad of the Year competition is for individuals who have exhibited the qualities of the Savvy Grad.  These qualities include but are not limited to a(n):

•Desire to continuously acquire knowledge
•Desire to improve upon their current situation
•Heightened ability to utilize resources
•Outlook that allows them to see solutions instead of problems
•Passion for sharing their experiences
•Courage to pursue challenges that encourage growth
•Ability to work with others to achieve goals
•Individual devoted to bettering the community in which they live

Michael Wallenstein was chosen as the Savvy Grad of the Year for his efforts put forth in his company Sustainable Improvements.  Michael graduated from the University of Denver with an MS in Real Estate and Construction Management in 2009.  With the current state of the real estate market Michael could not have graduated at a worse time for his specific field, however, rather than seeing this as a problem the true Savvy Grad within him decided to look outside the box for other opportunities to leverage his skills.

In September of 2009 Michael created his own sustainable consulting company, Sustainable Improvements, which details the best practiced guidelines aimed at developers, homeowners, designers, or contractors who wish to incorporate energy efficient building methods into new or existing structures.   Since September, Sustainable Improvements has seen huge growth and a significant demand for the services provided.  Recently Sustainable Improvements has partnered with the Colorado-based solar designer-installer known as Vibrant Solar.
